General Information

How do I schedule an appointment?  Simply call (770) 265-6492 and leave a detailed message which includes your name, number and the reason for your call. I’m happy to talk with you about how I can help you feel better though I'm sure you can understand that I do not answer the phone when I am in session/working.

If you wish for me to call you back please leave a message with your name and phone number. I will call you back during business hours. I do not automatically return calls unless you leave your name, number and a specific message asking me to do so.

The type of work I do requires a great deal of energy both mentally and physically. I follow the self-care plans and ideas that I share with all of my clients which means I take the weekend -- Friday through Sunday -- to replenish and restore myself and spend time with my family which means I return calls during business hours Monday through Thursday.

IMPORTANT: Due to a huge increase in scam phone calls you must leave a message to receive a return call from meIt's unfortunate but a necessary precaution I've had to take to protect my business from unethical people. Thank you for your understanding.

When can I get an appointment?  I am happy and blessed to say I am a very busy Massage Therapist and seldom have same day appointments available. It is not unusual for me to be booked out three weeks to two months from any given date. I do have a cancellation list for clients who are hoping to get in earlier. In the event of a cancellation I text the clients on that list until I find the one who can come in for the appointment time that has opened - the first to say yes is who gets that appointment.

What days do you work?  I’m in the office Monday through Thursday.

What are your hours?  11:00am to 6:00pm. I schedule three appointments a day. Whoever schedules first on any given day is what sets the other appointment times for that day. New Clients will need to schedule their first appointment between 11:00am and 5:00pm. Evening appointments (6:00 & 7:30) are available for Established Clients only.

How many appointments do you do in a day?  Only three. Most appointments take a minimum of 2 hours to complete (including set up, appointment time, reset and rest), longer with sessions using Hot Salt Stones or CranioSacral Therapy. I find more appointments causes my work to suffer as well as my hands and arms to have problems.

Who do you work on?  I work on women of all ages. I have worked on infants as young as 6 months and senior citizens as young as 92! I have had the incredible fortune of working on three generations of one family and am hoping their fourth generation will come see me soon. I do my best to meet the needs of each client, taking care to be gentle and compassionate with whom ever is on my table. I accept male clients on a referral basis only.

Do you take Walk-ins?  My practice is set up for scheduled appointments only. I do not take walk-ins. If you are in need of a Gift Certificate please call (770) 265-6492 and leave me a message that you wish to buy a Gift Certificate. If you wish to pick one up at the office please call me (770) 265-6492 to make arrangements for me to meet you at the office.

Should I arrive early?  Please arrive five minutes before your scheduled appointment. Time has been included in your session time to discuss problems or changes without taking time away from your Therapeutic Massage. I do schedule time between appointments to reset the room as well as rest my hands and arms in order to be fresh and ready to work on you.

Where are you located?  My studio is located beside the office of Dr. David Fields, MD, on Highway 81 at 98 Tara Commons, Loganville, GA 30052.

The office is one mile south of the intersection of Hwy 78 & Hwy 81 (Loganville Kroger and Maxie Price Chevrolet) heading towards Walnut Grove. At one mile turn left on Tara Commons Drive. Take the next right into the parking lot and park to the far left by the door with the "98" above it (Look for the butterfly in the window.)

Which door is your entrance?  When you pull into the parking lot you will see three doors. Mine is the door farthest to the left with the "98" above it. Look for the Butterfly in the window.

Hey!! The Entrance door is locked!! What Gives??  The entrance is kept locked between appointments for security reasons. Please do not knock -- If I am in session I will not be able to answer the door. I will unlock the door no more than ten minutes prior to scheduled appointment times. If you are early for your appointment, please allow me time to finish the appointment prior to yours and reset the room for your session.

What kind of payment do you take?  Cash, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover and Health Savings Account Visa cards.

Your prices have changed since the last time I saw you!  Yes, costs have increased a great deal in the last couple of years but I‘ve always managed to maintain reasonable rates so clients can afford to come in for regular massage.

Massage Information

What kind of work do you do?  I combine many techniques/modalities when I work. Much of the work I do is based in general Swedish techniques with long, flowing strokes with NeuroMuscular Therapy NMT), Trigger Point (TP) work, ProprioNeuro Facilitation release work (PNF), CranioSacral Therapy (CST), Spontaneous Muscle Release Technique (SMRT), Reiki, Intuitive Massage, Sports Massage, Lomi Lomi, Hot Himalayan Salt Stone and other Clinical techniques I have learned over the years all mixed in as I find them useful in the session. Over the 25+ years of work I have gained an incredible amount of knowledge and experience working on thousands of bodies. I believe presence and proper intent are as much a part of the work I do as the technical aspects of the strokes performed. I follow my intuition and allow my hands to do what they naturally know what to do. Were you to watch me work you would see much of the time my eyes are closed and I move around the body in a form of dance. Massage for me is as much an Art as it is technique. If you are looking for a sterile, clinical atmosphere where the Massage Therapist wears a white lab coat I am not the practitioner for you.

How long is a New Client Session?  It is recommended to plan on being at the office for two hours for your first session. This allows time for an extensive client interview as well as time to undress/redress and reschedule without affecting the full time allotted for your massage session.

How long are other appointments?  After your initial New Client Session it will depend on if you are scheduled for a regular client session or extended client session.
For a regular client session please allow 90 minutes for follow up appointments.
For an extended client session please allow 2 hours for your follow up appointments.

Each session provides time for you to discuss issues or problems as well as any changes you are experiencing. This is a great time to talk about pressure, ask questions about different techniques or simply review the current treatment plan.
You receive a minimum of 65 minutes hands on therapeutic massage for the regular client session and a minimum of 80 minutes for the extended client session. Please note: Should you arrive late, your session will need to end on time in order to not interfere with the appointment(s) following yours.

Cranial Sacral Therapy sessions: Sessions are truly individual and run between 75 to 90 minutes though some sessions have run as long as two and a half hours.  Please be sure to inform me if you have to leave the office at a specific time.

Are you licensed?  Yes. I am a Georgia State Licensed Massage Therapist. License #2787.

Do you belong to a Professional Association?  Yes. I am a member of Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals (ABMP).

Do you have a Code of Ethics?  Yes. I am a Licensed Professional Massage Therapist and follow the code of professional ethics found at the ABMP website. I provide professional Therapeutic Massage services only. Any hint or suggestion of illegitimate or illegal practices will end the session immediately with full session price due! No Exceptions!!

Do you file health/medical insurance?  No. The time and cost associated with filing medical insurance is not one I am willing to undertake. Plus, not all health insurance plans cover massage therapy. If you need receipts they can be emailed to you quite easily by selecting that option when you pay using your credit card.

I no longer participate in personal injury massage therapy cases.

Do you take Health Savings Account cards (H.S.A.)?  Yes. I do take Health Savings Account (H.S.A) Visa cards through my credit card processor. Receipts are emailed to you for your records. It is your responsibility to verify massage therapy is an acceptable expense for your Health Savings Account.

Client Concerns:

Do I have to undress?  You are encouraged to undress to your comfort level. Professional draping is used in every session and only the area being worked will be uncovered. Many techniques work best when done directly on skin without barriers (Signature Massage and Lomi lomi techniques and Therapeutic Massage in specific areas: hips, gluteus muscle set (bottom), sacrum) however it is possible to work through the sheet or clothes when necessary.

What’s the difference between deep pressure and deep tissue?  Excellent question!! There is a great deal of confusion about these terms and what they mean.

Deep pressure is simply the amount of force delivered into the soft tissue of the body. Asking for Deep Pressure means you will receive intense deep penetrating strokes into the body. It is usually general in application.

Deep Tissue on the other hand is about addressing the deeper layers of soft tissue structures to address pain, spasms, tightness, restrictions of mobility and other issues. These areas are usually sore and painful to have worked on. Some practitioners use a very deep intense touch when administering these techniques which can leave you very sore afterward. I provide gentle deep tissue work to my clients and strive to stay within their limits and boundaries when it comes to intensity. Should you ever have deep work administered and it is too much to handle insist the practitioner stop and back out of the area. It is possible to work on sore areas of the body without causing more pain.

Ouch!! That’s too much pressure!!  It’s very easy to change pressures or techniques to better suit the person on the table. I can usually tell when it is too much pressure by the way your body reacts but if you need me to lighten up please tell me. This is your time and I want you to be comfortable and enjoy your session.

The last massage I had was painful. I’ve had one like that too. I was sore-to-the-touch for almost two weeks afterwards. I do my absolute best to NOT do that to my clients. I will ask you throughout the session asking about pressure. I work on a scale from 1 to 10 based on your perception of intensity/pain. There is a hurts-so-good feeling and then there’s a plain old hurts feeling. It can be a fine line sometimes but I like to stay on the hurts-so-good side of things. If your body is bracing and tensing it is counter productive to the work I’m doing for you. Do not hesitate to tell me if the pressure or intensity is too much for you to handle.

That’s too light!! Please go deeper!  Every client has different perceptions of what is too light and what is too deep. Initially I start off with light pressure to spread the oil across the area of the body I’m working on then advance in pressure and depth as the session lengthens. I check-in frequently asking about depth of pressure and whether what I’m doing is comfortable. If you would like deeper pressure please let me know. I’m able to accommodate these requests. One caveat to this is that if your body is bracing and resisting against the deeper pressure I will respect the boundaries of your body. Deeper is not necessarily better and I DO NOT agree with the old adage of “No Pain. No Gain.” If you are in pain, bracing or tightening your muscles when I’m working in an area you are actively working against the therapy and it is counter productive to what we are trying to accomplish. I am happy to refer you to other local Massage Therapists f you find that I simply DO NOT provide the deep intense pressure you desire.

I’m unhappy with my session. Please let me know before you leave. I strive to create an incredible experience for all of my clients and hope to have the opportunity to correct anything you don’t like.

I’m embarrassed by my body…  I have worked on bodies of all shapes and sizes over the years and truly, your weight does not matter to me. I have an electric lift table which allows me raise and lower the table to make it easy for you to get on and off of the table as well as position the table at the height I need to work on most clients. It is my goal to create a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere for you to receive a massage and not worry about anything else. If you are still feeling hesitant or worried please give me a call to talk about your concerns. Your comfort is most important to me.

What kind of creams or oils do you use?  I use pure and natural Jojoba Oil in my practice (pronounced ho-HO-ba). Jojoba oil is incredibly close to the natural ph of the skin and provides a luxurious silky feeling for your skin. Clients troubled with dry skin or psoriasis will observe a noticeable difference after regular applications of Jojoba oil.

Do you use essential oils in your oil?  I use unscented Jojoba oil for the majority of my work. Due to people having sensitivity or allergies to scents I do not use scented oils unless specifically requested to do so. If you are interested in having essential oils added to your session please mention this when you schedule your appointment. I have a limited supply of essential oils available in my office to customize your massage oil. If you have a particular essential oil that you would like me to use for your massage please bring a small well-capped bottle (2 ounce) and the essential oil to your session. I will mix a small batch of massage oil for your session for a cost of $3.00 per ounce of Jojoba oil used. I will not be able to store the bottle for you at my office.

I have a great respect for essential oils and recommend anyone using them to take the time to research the oils you are using. Essential oils can cause intense reactions and should not be used "neat" (undiluted) on the skin or ingested. Some essential oils are photosensitive and can react adversely in sunlight. Severe reactions can occur as these oils build up within the body. Please be very careful with any essential oils you use on yourself and especially if you are using them on children.

Packages & Programs

How often should I come in?  Every day!!! Okay, most people cannot commit to daily massage due to scheduling and finances. Most clients find immediate relief for their pain after the first session and are surprised to discover other things hurt too. This isn’t unusual at all since your focus has been on the primary pain, allowing you to ignore the other smaller, less noticeable pains. Most likely there are compensation patterns that have developed throughout your body, meaning other parts of your body have been helping you cope with the pain that brought you in. It is important to address these patterns to truly restore balance to your body.

If you are dealing with pain due to a car accident, other type of injury or chronic pain that has built up over time, I recommend regular weekly massage for at least four consecutive weeks to start. This allows each session to build on the previous and within four weeks you will know for sure whether massage therapy can truly help you feel better. Once the first four weeks are done you determine how often you should come in for the best results.

If you are seeking a truly exceptional experience consider the Simply Sublime package. You have a year to indulge yourself starting with a CranioSacral Therapy session to discover a sense of peace you have not known before followed by three (3) Therapeutic Massage sessions to take care of the aches, the pains, and the desire to move beyond it all. Wrapping up this magical transition is one final CranioSacral Therapy session bringing both balance to the body and the mind. This package provides you the ULTIMATE relaxation and stress reduction.

The truth is each person responds in their own individual way; some faster, some slower and only You know what feels right for you and your wallet. Loganville Therapeutic Massage offers a variety of affordable programs created to meet your particular needs.

How long is a Package good for?  Unless otherwise stated, each package is good for one year from the date of purchase.

I’d like to bring my husband, sister or best friend in. Thank you for your referral. You can purchase Gift Certificate directly from me. Please be sure to share the Cancellation & No Show policy with them. Late cancellations cause a charge to your credit card if they don't make their scheduled appointment. No showing their appointment voids the Gift Certificate.

Do I have to pay for the Packages up front?  Yes. In order to get the discount being offered the package needs to be paid in full when you purchase it.

Do you ever run specials?  No. You won’t find me on Groupon or other group discount sites.

Gift Certificates

How can I buy a Gift Certificate for my Wife, Husband or Friend?  Please contact me at (770) 265-6492 to discuss the purchase of a Gift Certificate.

Oh no, I lost my Gift Certificate.  Give me a call. I keep a log of Gift Certificate sales and will be able to help you out.

My Gift Certificate expired  As long as it isn’t horribly outdated (more than two years) give me a call. If you have one that is more than two years old give me a call anyway and I’ll see what kind of deal we can work out.

I have a Gift Certificate but forgot my appointment! (No-shows)  That’s unfortunate! Anyone who forgets and doesn’t show up is considered a “no-show.” Clients redeeming Gift Certificates who "no-show" their scheduled appointment have FORFEITED their Gift Certificate.

Cancellation & Rescheduling

What if I have to Cancel or Reschedule?  A 24 hour advance notice is required when canceling or rescheduling an appointment to avoid charges. Due to the nature of my work and limited number of appointments taken I do require a full day's notice (24 hours) for canceling an appointment. If you become aware that you are unable to make a scheduled appointment please call (770) 265-6492 as soon as possible to let me know and reschedule.

While I completely understand emergencies arise please note that the following reasons do not constitute emergencies:

  • Forgetting your appointment
  • Having dinner plans come up
  • Taking your child to a birthday party or other event
  • Realizing you have a scheduling conflict a few hours prior to your appointment with me.

If you are unable to give a 24 hour advance notice the credit card you have secured your appointment with will be charged the full session amount.

Cancellation Policy for Clients Involved in Packages:

New Client Gift Packages must be secured with a credit card. An advance notice of 24 hours is required to cancel an appointment. A missed appointment will result in a full session charge to their credit card.

I forgot my appointment! (No-shows)  That’s unfortunate! Time is everything to a massage therapist especially one who does only three appointments a day. Not showing up for your appointment is the number one all time worst thing you can do to a massage therapist and it is the reason I now secure all appointments with a credit card. Anyone who forgets and doesn’t show up is considered a “no-show.” The credit card you used to secure your appointment will be charged the full session fee. Clients redeeming Gift Certificates who "no-show" their scheduled appointment forfeit their Gift Certificate.

Oh no, I’m running late!!  If you know you are running behind please call and let me know. I tend to worry about my clients when they don’t show up on time. If you arrive late, your session will need to end on time in order to accommodate others whose appointments follow yours. Regardless of the length of the treatment actually given, you will be responsible for payment of the “full” session. Out of respect and consideration to your Massage Therapist and other clients, please plan accordingly and be on time.

Uhm, I have a hard time being on time for appointments (Chronically Late).  Time is everything to a Massage Therapist. It is very important to be on time for your appointment(s). Please understand your session will need to end on time in order to not impact the client appointments following yours. Full payment is expected for the session.

Uhm, I have a hard time remembering my appointments (Chronic No-Shows).   Not showing up for your appointment is the number one all time worst thing you can do to a massage therapist. It is the reason I now secure all appointments with a credit card. Time is everything to a Massage Therapist especially one who does only three appointments a day. Forgetting an appointment and No-showing truly upsets the applecart that is my schedule. I do charge the credit card securing your account full session fee whenever you book my time and No-Show your appointment.

If you need reminders please let me know. I can offer text reminders a day or two prior to your appointment, simply let me know and I will make a note of it. Please understand confirmation texts are not guaranteed and does not remove your responsibility to remember and pay for your appointment. Chronic Forgetting or No-Showing Appointments will cause me to discontinue working with you in my practice.

Uhm, I have a hard time remembering to cancel in time (Chronic Late Cancellations).  Time is everything to a Massage Therapist, especially one who does only three appointments a day. Simply put, I really do need a minimum of 24 hours to fill the vacancy. I have a list of clients to call but they need at least a day’s notice to make the appointment. I do charge for late cancellations. Chronic Late Cancellations will cause me to discontinue working with you in my practice.

Emergencies, Sickness & Other reasons NOT to come in

OMG! It’s an emergency!!   If you are truly hurt please call 911 or visit an ER. While I am thoroughly honored you think I can help you in this dire situation most likely I‘m going to recommend you see a Medical Professional who is able to diagnose the problem and prescribe pain killers and/or an anti-inflammatory to help get you out of immediate pain. I will most certainly listen to what happened and make recommendations on how to use heat, ice and Epsom salt soaks plus set up an appointment for you to see me.

I’m sick and feeling horrible.  If you have a sore throat, fever, vomiting or diarrhea (or have been caring for a family member with these symptoms) please stay home and take care of yourself. I simply ask that you please call me as soon as you realize you are not able to make your appointment and not wait till the last minute to inform me (I waive late cancellation fees if you are sick). I do not wish to pass any sickness to other clients nor can I afford to get sick myself. We will reschedule when you are feeling better.

I've got Poison Ivy/Oak, Sunburn, Rash, Ringworm...  I'm very sorry to hear this!  Please call (770) 265-6492 and let me know you won't be coming in for your appointment as soon as possible.  Unless you wait till the absolute last minute to let me know we can work around this and reschedule you for another time once you clear up.

Payment, NSF Checks & Refunds

What kind of payment do you take?  Cash, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover and Health Savings Account Visa cards.

Oops, I wrote you a bad check (NSF Checks)!  This needs to be handled immediately. It will cost you a $30.00 fee plus the session cost. You will forever be on a pay-up-front-in-cash basis from that point and I have the right to discontinue working with you as a client.

I want a Refund.  In 25 years of practice I have yet to have anyone request a refund. Of course, when you put that in writing inevitably, someone pops up and wants one. Should this occur I will address it on an individual basis and reserve the right to approve or deny the refund. My business policy has always been to honor the client and their money spent at my practice. With that in mind the following policies are in effect with regards to purchases made:

Gift Certificates do not have a cash value and are Non-transferable. Refunds will go back to the purchaser of the Certificate in the manner it was purchased minus processing fees*. No-showing a scheduled appointment forfeits that Gift Certificate and is not refundable.

Packages In the event a client wants a refund for unused sessions the remaining sessions will be pro-rated at regular rates and according to what is left on the package minus processing fees*.

Simply Sublime is Non-refundable and Non-transferable.

*Processing fees are the charges made to process credit card payments for massage services. Depending upon the gateway used (Gift Card Café & Pay Pal, Google, Square) will define the amount of processing fees. Please note, chargebacks done through Pay Pal or Square incur a separate and extra processing fee.
